A Taste of Pompeii and Sorrento

Depart from Naples on a short drive to reach Pompeii, a UNESCO heritage site, the most visited Roman site after the Colosseum in Rome.

Meet your local and knowledgeable tour guide and learn how everything you see is intact and brought back to life after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D.

Archaeological excavations continue today, and you will see houses, shops, squares, brothels, and even entire human figures preserved over time thanks to the lava of Vesuvius' eruption. Roman architecture is showcased in the marvelous villas, the most famous of Villa dei Misteri, and in public buildings such as the Forum, the Macellum (Market), and the Amphitheater.

After approximately 2 hours of your guided tour inside the ruins depart to the Sorrento Coast!

Along the way, you will admire the suggestive medieval castle from which the name of the famous town Castellammare di Stabia comes. You will also see small and enchanting beaches such as Vico Equense and Seiano and the typical Mediterranean vegetation full of lemon and orange trees. After eating lunch in a traditional restaurant (beverages at your own expense), proceed to Sorrento and enjoy a drive along the renowned Sorrento Coast. Stop at the panoramic viewpoint in Meta di Sorrento to look over the wonderful sight of the bay and look out to sea.

Finally, make your way to Sorrento for a short visit to the town. Spend your free time exploring the most well-known locations while meandering through the streets and narrow alleys lined with shops and small workshops. View one of the most scenic places in Sorrento, the Villa Comunale, from where it is possible to admire the beauty of the Gulf as far as Punta Campanella and Capri Island.

You will end the day with a dramatic coastline drive back to Naples and your ship and leave with memories to last a lifetime.
